Hitman 3
Yeah we do some man hitting from time to time.
My ulterior motive was to see each of these levels in their intended context before starting the new roguelike mode. So I was kinda rolling my eyes at all the story developments, scripted events, or other silly things they do in these games. Hitman 3 sure has a lot of these, and that may have harmed the replayability of these levels. Dartmoor and Mendoza are probably my favorite locations, but they’re pretty average compared to the first two games. I won’t hate on each and every level, since I’ve only played them one or two times so far, but there’s not much that stands out as good. The game seemed to be more interested in spectacle and story, and not social stealth sequences. They probably thought that would keep more of the audience’s attention, but it got incredibly boring to me. Had this game been completely independent of the series, and not a groundwork for extra modes and replays, I definitely would’ve dropped it. It’s sad to see a Hitman game try to distance itself from what makes Hitman good, but 3 still follows the rock solid formula and everything still works as expected. I will applaud IOI for unifying all 3 games and continuing to support it with free updates.
Score: 2/3. While the prior two games are easily 3/3s, I would only recommend this if you’re bored of those games. You should definitely play it if you want more out of it, and we might be stuck with this game for the next few years while the devs are doing all that 007 stuff.
